North Eastern Syria is currently controlled by the SDF (the area in yellow on this map) and visiting it currently requires special permission. If you simply show up at the SDF checkpoints from other parts of Syria, you will 90% be turned around, and will waste a lot of time in the process. In case you’d like to experience something different from our regular Syria tours, then a tour to Rojava could be something for you.

Currently, we are offering private tours to Rojava and North East Syria, including the following areas: Raqqa, Qamishly, Derek (Al Malikiyah), Kobane, Al Hasakah and more. These tours are currently being tailored as private tours (companies wishing to organise groups are welcome to contact me), as well as group tours.
These tours would ideally start in government-controlled parts of Syria such as Aleppo, Hama, or Damascus, but it is also possible to enter Rojava from Iraqi Kurdistan (Semalka/Fish Khabour crossing).
Sample Itinerary:
- Day 1: Travel from Aleppo to Tabqa and Jaabar Castle. Arrive in Raqqa city at night
- Day 2: Morning city tour of Raqqa, drive to Jinwar “women’s village”, then to Qamishli. Explore the city, old synagogues and churches. Sunset in Azadi Park. Overnight in Qamishli.
- Day 3: Drive to Abdulaziz Mountain and Sukre Castle, then to Hasaka city. Explore the marketplaces and parks. Overnight in Hasaka
- Day 4: Drive to Damascus via Raqqa and the ancient ruins of Resafa nearby Raqqa city. We will stop by Homs for a break on the way. End of tour via transfer to Damascus airport or to Lebanon/Jordan.
