NOTE: The itinerary starts in Damascus and ends in Aleppo. However, we can help you arrange transfers to and from Syria from Jordan or Lebanon, as well as airport transfers.

One of the most unique Syria tours that we run – this Syria trip focuses on visiting the Kurds of Syria, as well as the city of Raqqa. The itinerary is extremely unique, and something that other operators in Syria don’t run. This itinerary is perfect for people that have already been to Syria, and would like to see something different on a second (or third) visit. Or, people who have a specific interest in the Kurds of Syria, and lesser-visited areas.

Visit Kurdish-majority parts of Syria that were previously off limits to tourists (Afrin, Qamishli and more)
Visit the city of Raqqa and Jaabar Castle, previously the capital of ISIS. Learn about their abuses and life under their rule.

Itinerary

Day 1 - DAMASCUS -> TABQA -> RAQQA
9th May 2026 - Saturday
- Meet the group at a pre-determined location in old Damascus early in the morning. Then, we will drive north towards Raqqa city.
- Our first stop on the way will be the ancient ruins of Resafa, an ancient site that is home to famous Roman ruins.
- We will then continue on to the city of Tabqa, where we will have lunch, and enjoy the views of the lake.
- Then, we will visit Jaabar Castle, an architectural phenomenom, located on an island surrounded by the lake.
- Finally, we will end the day by driving to Raqqa city, where we will have dinner and check in to the hotel.
Day 2 - RAQQA & HASAKAH
10th May 2026 - Sunday
- In the morning, we will have a tour of Raqqa city. This includes visiting the infamous Black Stadium (ex ISIS prison), Euphrates River, Al Naeem roundabout (where ISIS used to put heads), wandering through the marketplaces and more.
- After lunch in Raqqa, we will drive to Hasakah city (around 3 hours).
- Upon arrival in Hasakah, we will wander around the city centre, and also visit the local park and local monuments. This city is a true mix of people, with Kurds, Christian Assyrians and Arabs all living here.
Day 3 - SUKRE CASTLE -> TEL TAMR -> QAMISHLI
11th May 2026 - Monday
- After breakfast in Hasakah, we will drive west to the Jebel Abdulaziz area, where we will visit Sukre Castle, a historical site that's popular for locals to picnic around.
- We will then drive to the Tel Tamr, and visit many Assyrian villages and churches by the Khabur river. This region was occupied by ISIS, and many of the local Christians fled, and didn't return. It's an interesting place to visit.
- Then, we will drive on to Qamishli city, where we will visit more churches and a local synagogue, as well as Azadi park, which highlights Kurdish culture. We'll learn about the Kurds in that area, whilst overlooking the border of Turkey.
Day 4 - TEL HALAF -> KOBANE
12th May 2026 - Tuesday
- We will start our day by driving west. Our first stop will be Tel Halaf, one of the oldest historical sites in all of Syria, and only just opened to foreign visitors!
- We will then continue our journey west to Kobane. Here, we will tour around the city with local Kurdish people, and learn about it's recent history.
- We will visit the local landmarks of Kobane, and we will spend the night there.
Day 5 - TISHRIN DAM -> NAJMUDDIN CASTLE -> ALEPPO
13th May 2026 - Wednesday
- After breakfast in Kobane, we will head west, crossing the Euphrates river over the Tishrin Dam, which was a point of tension between the SDF and Syrian Government in 2025.
- Then, we will visit Najmuddin Castle in the Manbij area, beside the Euphrates river.
- Then, we will continue on to Aleppo city, where we will have a quick city tour for those who have not been here.
- If time permits, and the group wishes to go, we can visit the Kurdish neighbourhood of Sheikh Maqsoud, where we can arrange a gathering with Kurdish artists and live music.
- Overnight in Aleppo
Day 6 - ALEPPO -> ST SIMEON CITADEL -> AFRIN -> ALEPPO
14th May 2026 - Thursday
- In the morning, we will drive outside of Aleppo city to a historical site called Saint Simeon citadel. This ancient Christian complex dates back to the 5th Century and it’s stunning. During the war, it was used as a military base, as recently as 2024.
- Then, we will continue on to Afrin area, a beautiful Kurdish-majority region famous for olive plantations. We will visit the village of Kimar, where we will visit a local family and explore the historical ruins.
- The, we will drive on to Afrin city for lunch. After that, we will continue to the villages around in, specifically Shorbe village, or others of natural beauty.
- If time permits, we will finish the day by visiting Meydanki lake. The, we will return to Aleppo.
Day 7 - END OF TOUR
15th May 2026 - Thursday
- Drop off to Aleppo airport for those that have booked out of Aleppo.
- Otherwise, a transfer to Beirut, Amman, Damascus, or elsewhere can be arranged.

FAQ

Do I need a visa for Syria?
We will arrange something called "Security Clearance" which will allow all of our group members to get the Syrian visa on arrival at the border.
Do I need a visa for Lebanon?
That depends on your nationality. Most European, Arab, and Latin American nationalities, as well as the US and Canada, do not require a visa for Lebanon.

If you do require one, we can help you arrange it. Another option is to enter Syria by flight or through Jordan, if you don't want to get a Lebanese visa.
Can I extend the tour?
Yes, of course, tour extensions are possible. You can extend the tour to stay some additional days in Damascus, or, for an additional cost, we can arrange trips for you to visit other places, such as the Kurdish areas in the North East, the Syrian coastal region or more!
